Eclectic Bossa Nostra Given a Martin Audio AQ Makeover

Bristol-based CPM has fitted out a new lounge bar on the city’s trendy Baldwin Street exclusively with Martin Audio loudspeakers.
Bossa Nostra offers an eclectic cocktail menu and wide range of Mediterranean cuisine with a 2.30am licence. Also famous for its breakfasts (since its days as Café Firenze) it still opens at 10.30am for early morning shoppers.
Owners Dimitris Kantas and Ghalia Collins ran the venue under its original guise before closing for a ten week major refurbishment, reopening as an authentic continental bar/brasserie, with improved frontage, a canopy and a pavement licence.
CPM already knew Dimitris – and his discerning tastes in world music. Add to that the fact that Bossa Nostra would not only host DJ’s on weekend nights but also live music twice a week – including well known local alto-sax player James Morton – and it was clear that a versatile sound reinforcement system would need to be specified. Since Dimitris himself is often found behind the Pioneer twin CD players nothing less than the best would be acceptable.
Thus CPM proprietor Trevor Brooks opted for a combination of Martin Audio’s architectural AQ10 compact two-way loudspeakers, finished in white – which blend in superbly with the modern interior and sculptured chandeliers. A Blackline S15 provides some bass extension, and the rear of this 123-capacity venue is serviced by a further pair of AQ8s, under the control of dbx processing.
Baldwin Street enjoys a high footfall and is populated both by students and white collar workers in this growing commercial district, which is quickly becoming a popular after-hours meeting place.
