Hawthorn Acquires Rex Howard (Drapes) Ltd
Hawthorn has announced the acquisition of Rex Howard (Drapes) Ltd – ‘King of Tabs’ – who have been supplying drapes to film, TV and theatre for over 60 years.
Hawthorn’s managing director Martin Hawthorn comments: “Rex Howard was an obvious choice to consolidate our position as a ‘one-stop’ technical solutions company. Following our acquisition of Core Creative back in March, we now have a successful and established base in London and the purchase of Rex Howard allows us to build on that and further expand our London presence, as well as increasing our drapes inventory.”
Hawthorn hire, manufacture, install and service drapes. Their vast inventory, including over four acres of starcloth, a huge quantity of black wool serge curtains 3m – 10m drop, hundreds of stretch impact sails, along with Expo Cloth, coloured voiles and decorative sequined fabrics will be swelled by the addition of Rex Howard’s immense stock of velvets, voiles and coloured drapes.
The Hawthorn inventory of over £9m-worth of state-of-the-art lighting, sound, video, drapes and staging equipment will now be based across Hawthorn’s three locations, supporting the events market with their highly successful creative in-house project management team and also the continued dry hire of equipment.
Further investment is planned to increase the drapes inventory across all three of Hawthorn’s locations.
