Selecon Announce A Conversation with Rick Fisher

Selecon has announced the unique opportunity to meet renowned lighting designer Rick Fisher who is currently in Australia for the premier season of Billy Elliot The Musical which opens at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre in December 2007.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Rick has been working in British theatre for over 20 years and is currently chairman of the Association of Lighting Designers. Recent theatre credits include: Billy Elliot The Musical (Victoria Palace), The Philanthropist, Old Times (Donmar); Jerry Springer The Opera (National Theatre / West End); Hamlet (Edinburgh International Festival / Barcelona / Birmingham); Honour (National Theatre) and Red Demon and Peribanez (Young Vic).

‘Talking about Light’: A Conversation with Rick Fisher presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a small group of like-minded individuals to meet Rick, see a successful West End production followed by a post show discussion on stage. The next day Rick will lead a workshop based on his approach to lighting design including demonstrations of particular stage lighting techniques in a theatre environment wrapping up with lunch.

This is one conversation that will not be repeated and if you’d like to grab this chance to be part of a select group who will gain personal and professional insights from an award-winning, experienced international lighting designer then you need to put your hand up and register your interest with Selecon now.

Full details and the cost for participating in this 2-day experience (5th and 6th December) plus who you should contact can be found at: http://www.seleconlight.com

This will be the second event where Selecon and Rick have worked together to bring the theatre lighting community into the Billy Elliot arena; eleven of Australia and New Zealand’s top lighting design students were presented with funding from Selecon and given the priceless opportunity of sitting alongside Rick, observing and learning from a master of design during two days of technical rehearsals in October.
