Tripping the Light Fantastic
An impressive and stylish building in the heart of central London, LSO St Luke’s is making a name for itself as a commercial venue within the City, offering flexible contemporary spaces to hire for arts, corporate and private events. The members of the events team are tireless in their pursuit of improving the facilities. Proud of their ability to go the extra mile, there’s no doubt that the latest acquisition of new LED lights will add immeasurably to clients’ events.
The lights – supplied by Stage Electrics, specified by LSO St Luke’s technical manager, Steve Ramsden, and installed by LSO St Luke’s technical team – are made up of 24 fixtures, all 900mm LED X3 strips. When in use they enhance the relief of the beautiful Grade 1 Listed brickwork and can be used in any mode from static subtle tints through to strong corporate colours for commercial events, and even full-on chase patterns for dances and parties. When not in use, the fixtures are cleverly concealed behind existing acoustic banners and completely invisible. As an added bonus, the lights are amazingly energy-efficient – the entire installation runs from just one 13 amp socket (with loads to spare!).
Brian Lock, who used the lights at his recent gig at LSO St Luke’s was delighted with the end result: “The lights were superb, just what I wanted; atmospheric but not overpowering the music. I was extremely pleased they were able to do this in house as well.”
Bernie Davies, experienced TV lighting director was also very happy: “Having lit a few television shows at St Luke's I was delighted to find on my last visit that LSO St Luke’s had invested in LED lighting for the walls of the venue. Even better, they were good quality fixtures and were perfectly placed to bring the best out of the venue's brick texture. I have no doubt that any future user of this versatile space will be impressed with what this low-power effect can bring to their event.”
Another important bonus that will please clients is that there is no rigging time, so the facility can be offered at very competitive rates.
