Trantec in Northern Ireland with MK Audio

MK Audio, Northern Ireland’s leading radio mic supplier, has taken delivery of a Trantec 16 channel S5.5 wireless microphone system. Specialising in both hire and sales for a wide range of activities from theatre and broadcast to 24 track mobile recording, the company has enjoyed rapid growth which has resulted in the need to expand its pro-audio equipment schedule.
Speaking from their Strabane head office, MK Audio’s senior partner Michael Kielty says: “We are now busier than ever and with a full diary of theatre productions and musicals running through till next summer, we realised that we had to seriously increase our levels of radio mics. One such project was the recent stage production ‘Annie – the Musical’ and we were desperate for a system that was going to stand up to the hard knocks of life on the road whilst offering a quality, rock solid performance. We had been particularly impressed with the sound on the touring ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and asked their production team what system they were using. On hearing of their delight with their Trantec system, we had no hesitation in auditioning the S5.5”
Based on Trantec’s award winning S6000 series, the S5.5 simultaneously operates up to 24 channels with fully interactive PC monitoring, true-diversity reception, credit card size beltpacks, frequency autoscan, in-built Infra-red data link, single AA battery life of over 10 hours, and professional metal enclosures for both transmitter and receiver.
Kielty continues: “The service from Trantec really deserves special mention. The 16-channel system arrived at our office in its own 14U rack and two hours later it was fully up and running at dress rehearsals for ‘Annie’. Our FOH engineers were amazed. What we received was a complete bench-tested system, totally road-ready, that came fully loaded with every accessory we needed. Even the frequencies were already programmed in. No other manufacturer could compete with that, and no-one else could touch it on price. We have been running the S5.5 virtually every night now for several weeks and I can honestly say we have not had a single glitch in the RF. I believe that we now have the first Trantec multi-channel system in Ireland – it certainly won’t be the last.”
Trantec’s sales executive Mark Parkhouse says: “We are delighted that MK Audio are pleased with the system. Our aim with the S5 is to bring multi-channel professional wireless within everybody’s reach. Competitively positioned as a mid range product, the S5 Series promises a powerful set of features normally associated with systems at four times the price. Yet again Trantec continues to combine substantial performance with practical flexibility to suit venues of any size.”
Launched earlier this year, the Trantec S5 wireless system is available with a choice of either handheld or lavalier mics and is now shipping from its London headquarters.
