Audio-Technica Lines Up New Microphone and Headphone Product for prolight+sound

Audio-Technica is showing major new microphone and professional headphone products for the first time in Europe at this year’s prolight+sound exhibition in Frankfurt.

The AT2010 handheld cardioid condenser microphone is a live performance companion to the hugely successful AT2020 large diaphragm studio model. The AT2010 handheld shares the large 16mm low mass diaphragm of the AT2020, and continues Audio-Technica’s tradition of developing winning live performance microphones from its large diaphragm studio models. Aimed at musicians who want to upgrade from a dynamic vocal microphone to the higher quality sound of a live condenser, the AT2010 has a suggested selling price of just £79.95 inc. VAT.

The new 1800 Series dual-channel camera-mount UHF wireless systems are designed for broadcasters and videographers requiring a system for the simultaneous operation of two microphones. The easy-to-use portable wireless solution provides UHF reception with up to 996 frequencies user-selectable in 25 kHz steps.

The battery powered, diversity dual receiver, features two completely independent receiver channels in a single unit. Ergonomically designed, this compact and rugged dual receiver easily mounts on a camera. Audio-Technica’s renowned automatic frequency scanning feature, which searches for and selects the best available frequency in the RF spectrum, avoiding interference and intermodulation problems. The 1800 Series comes equipped with a choice of body-pack and plug-on transmitters to enable wireless operation of any conventional microphone. Systems are priced from £999.95 inc. VAT.

Joining Audio-Technica’s range of professional headphones is a new flagship pro monitor model, the

ATH-M50. Featuring the company’s latest transducer technology, including proprietary 45mm large-aperture drivers, the closed back ATH-M50 provides exceptional power handling and unparalleled high resolution signal reproduction for critical monitoring applications. The innovative design provides exceptional comfort for hours of extended wear, and the circumaural earpieces swivel a full 180º for single-ear monitoring. Selling price of the ATH-M50 will be £99.95 inc VAT.

Audio-Technica is also introducing the first in its new QuietPoint headphone series, featuring the company’s advanced noise cancelling technology. The ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint employs a miniature microphone in each earpiece which actively monitors what is heard, including external environmental noise, such as street sounds, the noise in an airplane cabin or train carriage, or noise associated with the workplace. The onboard electronics identify the difference between this and the ‘undisturbed’ signal from the listening source. This is used to create an anti-noise signal, which is mixed with the intended signal source to reduce unwanted noise by up to 85%.

The sound quality of the ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint headphones, combined with the ability to listen to source material in conditions of near silence, makes them ideal for listening on the move, or for monitoring programme material in busy IT and AV environments, such as at workstations or in machine rooms. The ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint is priced very competitively for a headphone of this type, at £129.95 inc. VAT.
