Lightfactor Supplies SGM to SKL

Lightfactor Sales, UK distributor for SGM, has supplied 16 of the new Giotto Synthesis moving light fixtures to leading Scottish design and rental house, SKL.

This boosts SKL’s existing SGM inventory which includes Palcos, Ribaltas and the workhorse Giotto 400s.

Edinburgh-based SKL works in all areas of the industry, including corporate events and conferences, parties, rock ‘n roll tours and festivals. They have also used various SGM fixtures to realise architectural lighting schemes.

The Synthesis deal was cut between Simon Kennedy of SKL and Lightfactor’s Peter Coles. There were many reasons Kennedy made this latest investment – complimenting his existing SGM stock was one, and knowing he can rely on comprehensive, quality service from Lightfactor was another.

However, operational and creative considerations were also high on the agenda. “It’s a more precise unit than others,” says Kennedy. “You can achieve some extremely intricate, subtle and delicate effects, and in general, the Synthesis performs the slow effects better than most moving lights I have seen.” He adds that SKL is involved in a lot of top level corporate work where ‘slow’ is important.

Lightfactor’s Peter Coles says: “It’s great to see companies of SKL’s calibre really backing the brand and also utilising the whole SGM range to its fullest extent.”

The Synthesis is a 700 Series fixture, and offers all the standard Giotto features including hot re-strike lamp and excellent optics. There’s also come very cool ‘additionals’ like wireless DMX as standard, and an interchangeable animation wheel that can rotate 360 degrees on its axis and ‘around’ a gobo.

The unit contains two separate bespoke designed Osram lamps that can be used to create two colour temperatures – 7200ēK and 5600ēK, and has a modular internal; design for easy maintenance, servicing and parts replacement.

SKL’s new fixtures will go straight into work on their busy autumn schedule. Kennedy concludes, “It’s a great all round product, and is ideal for all the different areas and markets in which we work”.
