Studiocare And JBL Help Make Liverpool Music Week A Success
Harman Pro UK dealer Studiocare has been investing in JBL VRX 932LA Constant Curvature Line Array speakers for its hire division after successfully installing the units at the main indoor host venue for Liverpool Music Week 2006.
Andrew Culshow, manager of Studiocare’s Hire Department, says: “We started with four units, which we ordered specifically for Liverpool Music Week, and they proved so versatile that we have been steadily adding to our stock. They are now in constant use, particularly in smaller venues where their flexibility is proving invaluable.”
JBL’s VRX932LA speakers are part of the company’s Vertec Series Line Arrays, which lead the industry in large venue sound reinforcement. Intended for smaller venues, the VRX932LA is designed and built to the same high standards and uses the same advanced, concert-proven drivers. The units deliver extraordinary power handling, clarity, flexibility and stunning JBL sound in an attractive, easy to handle and affordable package.
Liverpool Music Week 2006 took place last November in collaboration with BBC Radio 3 Festival of Free Thinking. The two events fused in spectacular fashion to create a hybrid of live music and visuals. During Liverpool Music Week, which ran for 10 nights, live bands performed at various venues including an outdoor stage at the BBC Big Screen, in association with Radio 3. Artists included Supernumerai, The Big Chill, Tom Q, Hive Collective and Kinetic Fallacy.
The host venue for Liverpool Music Week was Bumper and it was here that the JBL VRX932LA speakers were really put through their paces.
“We are asked to supply the sound system for the venue and we looked at various speaker options before deciding on the JBL units, using two cabinets on each side of the stage above two SRX718s subs,” Culshow explains. “The venue has a reputation for being acoustically tricky because it incorporates a lot of reflections, but thanks to the versatility of the VRX932LA top boxes we were able to set the higher units with a long throw and the lower ones with a short throw to achieve a really great sound.”
