Audient Lands at Cape Audio College South Africa

Cape Audio College joins a growing list of educational facilities to choose Audient’s ASP8024 mixing console for the main control room. Some 80-plus students from South Africa and abroad expressed much enthusiasm at the unveiling of the new facility when the analogue desk was installed last year.

“Incredible demands are placed on all audio equipment within a training environment, with careless students being the downfall of many a good mixer,” says Steven Elsworth, part of the training team at Cape Audio College. “The solid durability of materials used in the Audient inspired a lot of confidence and have proved to be exactly the right choice.”

Each studio at Cape Audio College is designed differently, to give students as much variety and technical scope as possible, enabling them to identify the common and varying elements of all recording studios.

Elsworth continues: “The recordings and mixes from the main control room have a new level of sophistication. In addition, the console delivers acres of headroom and is beautifully transparent in all of its operations.

“With the new console, even more versatility can be expected from future college graduates,” enthuses Elsworth. “The college can certainly expect more attention from the discerning potential student.”

The console was supplied by UK-based Audient distributor, Stirling Trading. “We are so impressed with the great service from Stirling, despite them being so far away,” says Elsworth.

The ASP-8024 is the result of a research and development programme that was driven by the simple goal of establishing a new standard in cost effective analogue recording. Today Audient continues to deliver a product that is truly technology proof while at the same time providing the accepted and familiar functionality and performance of existing high-end large scale systems.

The College was established in 1995 under the direction of Rae de Jager and has trained some of the world's most uniquely creative producers and engineers. Mogale Mamaila, Shaun Karssen and Chrystal van Lienden join Steven Elsworth in Cape Audio College’s training team, heading up courses presenting an intuitive understanding of all subjects associated with the Audio Industry.
