Fabtronic Installs Martin CX-10s into Roadmender in Northampton

Roadmender in Northampton is an established Contemporary Performing and Visual Arts Centre with 75 years’ history. It is now under new management, and strategically it is an important regional venue for concerts including rock, reggae, hip-hop, dance, world, jazz roots and experimental music.

The Fabtronic Group in Northampton were asked to provide a unique alternative to architectural LED lighting and colour-changing products. The new system was designed, programmed and commissioned by Chris Hobbins, events and special projects manager at Fabtronic.

Chris explained his choice of lighting for the venue: “My solution was the CX-10 Extreme providing colour change, morphing texture effects and gobo projection. The frost on the CX-10 is amazing, as is the speed of effect change and smoothness when using long transition times.” He also commented that they had great optics and they were, “nice and bright for a 250MSD”.

The venue was also refurbished during this project using a wide selection of Martin products which included: MAC 250s, Atomic Strobes, Martin Roboscan 218s, Martin Roboscan 518s, Martin Freekie, Jem ZR-12 DMX and Jem ZR-30.

For the refurbishment, Chris chose the Roboscan 518s as he believes that they have shown long term reliability and the Jem ZR-30 because it is a great classic industry standard product.

Fabtronic are one of the UK's most respected suppliers and installers of professional audio, lighting and AV systems, offering a wide choice of solutions for their clients - who range across a broad variety of different industries.
