grandMA video Control 74 DMX Universes of LED During Star Quiz

Peer Langemak of Show-Network, who was responsible for the realisation of the LED control, connected using MA-Net: one grandMA full-size, one Apple QuadCore used with grandMA video as media server and one notebook as backup. The Apple was equipped with two 1 GBit Ethernet ports. One was used to control the LEDs via Artnet. The signal first ran through a 4-way switch and from that to the major switches, which passed it on to the controllers. The assignment was done via the Pixel Mapper in grandMA video.
“We wanted to create a typical quiz-mood with our design. The lighting should thereby increase the tension accordingly to the severity of the questions,” explained Peer Langemak, “By using LEDs the set becomes very flexible to the temper of the show.” The lighting rig consisted furthermore of 42 x VL5 Wash, 50 x VL6c and 52 x Clay Paky CP-Spots.
LD Design created the lighting design which Lex de Briun realised. Florian Wieder created the set design. During the preparation of the video content Peer Langemak was assisted by Philip Anton of Media in Motion Hamburg and Lars Wulff of Lichtgestaltung.sh, which also delivered the media server and arranged the close cooperation with MA Lighting. The LED system was built by the NDR Studio Hamburg. Schnick-Schnack-Systems delivered comprehensive support for the project. White Balance produced the show for the German television channel NDR.
