Klein + Hummel New M52 and M52D Active Control Monitors

Responding to requests from users, Klein + Hummel have made important enhancements to their miniature active control monitors. An update to the M 51 - the M 52 - is a small, lightweight, portable control monitor featuring a three-inch driver and upgraded, built-in amplification capable of producing over 100dB. Small in stature at 4 3/4" x 6 7/8" x 4 5/8" and weighing in at a featherweight 5.7 lbs., the M 52 is ideal for portable and fixed situations that demand flat, accurate response where

space is at a premium, such as small studios, broadcast vans, and mobile rigs.

The M 52 is engineered for versatility with convenient control of volume and power right on the front. In addition to new switching AC mains powering (85 - 230 V), the M 52 can be DC powered by a 12-20 volt battery via a four-pole XLR connector. Magnetic shielding and a solid, resonance-free, all-aluminum enclosure allow the M 52 to be placed anywhere, including next to a computer monitor or disc drive with no interference or compromise in sound quality. It features a transformer-balanced, +6 dBu XLR analog input, and can be mounted with optional hardware to almost any surface at any angle, as well as rack-mounted.

As if that isn't enough, Klein + Hummel has added their future-proof D-A conversion into the M 52's sibling - the M 52 D. Identical to the M 52 in every other way, the M 52 D adds S/PDIF and AES/EBU digital inputs that synchronize with any signal between 32kHz and 48kHz at 24-bit resolution. The M 52 D input is easily switched between analog, digital left, digital right, or both digital channels combined via a handy input selection knob on the front panel.

"The M 52, like the O 300, demonstrates Klein + Hummel's commitment to listening closely to our customers' needs and responding quickly," commented Dan Radin, product manager, Neumann and Klein + Hummel. "These little monitors fit perfectly into any tight squeeze or portable situation with no hassle. In addition to providing the accurate, honest sound that K+H is known for, they now work anywhere in the world on any AC or DC power supply... and they get impressively loud!"
