Movecat to Present New Products at Pro Light+Sound

Movecat, distributed by Think Abele of Nufringen, will be presenting numerous new products at Pro Light+Sound 2007 in Frankfurt. Central to their presentation is the use of stage chain hoists and chain-hoist controllers in the I-Motion network. With equipment from Movecat, complete, all-embracing network systems can be constructed that combine exact positioning at both fixed and variable speeds with functional operation and the highest possible degree of safety even with mixed configurations of D8, D8 plus and BGV-C1 equipment.
Movecat will be demonstrating live on its booth a typical practical application. Central control is exercised in combination with the I-Motion network controllers MRC-16 or Expert-T. All the relevant data is transmitted, shown on screens or displays, and evaluated. With the MRC-16, up to 16 hoists can be operated in association or even with any combination of MPC I-Series and V-Motion as well as I-Motion devices.
Expert-T is a systemic, certified controller (SIL 1 to SIL 3) for kinetic drives with which especially large or else complex projects can be realized. Developed for applications with up to 240 drives, it makes it possible to control and supervise any application at fixed or variable speeds. Even the most complex transformations with cross-actions and without imposing limitations on the different hoists are possible. There is also the option of integrating existing drives and other stage machinery. With the latest software version (v.1.0.76), it is possible to select between the vertical and horizontal deployment of movement.
The I-Series Motion Power Controllers MPC 4IC1-I (BGV C-1 compliant) and MPC 4ID8-I (BGV-D8 and D8 Plus) are intelligent units in 19" metal housings (3 U) for the control of up to four hoists of the series. The devices are operation-compatible, and any variations in their feature sets are solely attributable to differences in the codes of practice with which they are designed to conform. The devices make possible both direct control of the four axes via input keys and encoders as well as display output and the direct integration into the I-Motion network.
The same goes for the Powerpacks V-Motion 15 and V-Motion 30 (V-Motion stands for ‘Variable Motion’), which were designed for use with VMK hoists from Movecat. This combination makes it possible to realize intelligent and safe, variable-speed hoisting systems of the highest technical quality that comply with BGV C1. The Power Packs can be configured for the operation of a variety of VMK hoists: V-Motion 15 for drives up to 1.5 kW, and V-Motion 30 for drives up to 3.0 kW motor power.
V-Motion Powerpacks with an independent high-speed axis processor allow speeds ranging from 0 to 29 m/min as a closed loop system with full torque even during runs continuing beyond the null point (reversal of the run direction without incursion of the brakes). This gives unlimited freedom to conduct way- and time-synchronous group and load runs as well as complex transformation operations. As a complement to the I-Motion network, Movecat is presenting the ESB-1 (Emergency Stop Button) for the Expert-T system.
Movecat has expanded its range of VMK hoists with the introduction of three new models compliant with SIL 3 for use on the road (VMK-SR). The VMK-SR hoists complying with BGV C1 are based on the VMK-S version and optimized for tour use compliant with SIL 3. All the necessary safety components are integrated into these ultra-robust devices. The low-noise VMK-SR hoists, for example, are equipped with two independent noiseless brakes with air-gap supervision, a motor thermosensor, a high resolution independent incremental and absolute value encoder, a 4-track gear limit switch, as well as handles and a chain vortex adapter with ring eyelets capable of swivelling under load instead of a chain hook. To protect against overload or slack chain conditions, a dynamic load measurement system is integrated.
The structure when the V-Motion modules are used takes the form of a closed-loop system offering precise control from 0 to maximum speed. The hoists are available immediately in versions with nominal loads of 125 kg (0-40 m/min), 250 kg (0-30 m/min) and 500 kg (0-24 m/m).
Movecat is also presenting in its LMS series (of dynamic real-time load measuring systems) a road version with the model number LMS-R. This is notable for its especially robust aluminium housing (for use on tour) with its integrated DLX series 4-pin XLR with duplex ground closure for optimal shielding. The 'R' version also features the independent calibration checking procedure for targeted testing at each power up. The LMS can be used as an overload system for suspension points or as an additional element operating with Movecat motorized chain hoists. The system is available for loads ranging from 500 kg to 2,500 kg in D8 and C1 versions.
