Blitz in the News
Blitz has announced the completion of a contract providing AV refurbishment for Associated Newspapers Limited (Associated) offices in Kensington, London.
Blitz has worked with Associated and its various divisions for the last eight years. Most recently it was commissioned to undertake the AV refurbishment of its reception area. This involved the installation of state of the art equipment that allows the company to display breaking news as well as a facility to scroll through the daily news stories on a rotating viewing schedule.
For the new reception area, Blitz designed and programmed a system that employs a combination of nine Mitsubishi 67" DLP cubes and the Folsom Encore product. This solution enabled the creation of one single branded background 4.2mtr x 3.1mtr into which various windows could be inserted showing current front pages, websites, breaking news stories as well as the corporate videos. Custom software applications were written by Blitz to enable the manipulation of incoming news feeds and data from Associated to be displayed in these various windows. The daily operation of the screens is controlled by an AMX system which triggers a rotation of events and display formats occurring at timed intervals throughout the day. The custom steel structure that all of the displays, control equipment and wall cladding were to be mounted on was also designed and supplied by Blitz.
As Alan MacDonald, Head of the Blitz Installations division explains: "The equipment which we have used for this project is a mix of standard and specialised equipment, and we have combined the use of specific technologies as well as writing our own specific applications to display the news in an impressive way."
