Projectiondesign Launches New Cineo20 DLP eCinema Projector

Norwegian-based manufacturer projectiondesign has unveiled the cineo20, the latest in its line of DLP eCinema projectors.

Designed for small cinema and auditorium applications which demand the highest image quality, the cineo20 is well-suited to pre-show advertising, HD screenings, in-cinema presentations and alternative video content. Due to the projectors rugged design and extremely compact size, it can even be used by film production specialists for the review of digital dailies or rushes whilst in any location at any time.

Featuring full 720p HD resolution, Texas Instruments BrilliantColor technology, projectiondesign’s own unique RealColor colour management suite and a high-performance, long-life lamp, the cineo20 is perfectly suited to screening professional video in demanding applications.

“We have designed the new cineo20 to offer high performance at a relatively low cost,” comments Anders Løkke, marketing and communications manager for projectiondesign. “The projector is quite capable of firing the highest-quality analogue and digital video images onto screens of up to 5.5m width, retaining full SMPTE brightness specifications, and making it perfect for the smaller cinema and auditorium sectors.” Løkke points out that the cineo20 offers an image quality that is surpassing that of many more expensive projectors.

Texas Instruments DLP technology is the preferred technology for digital cinema, offering predictable performance over years of service, as well as the highest possible image quality. Texas Instruments BrilliantColor DLP technology ensures a wide gamut and strongly saturated imaging, while projectiondesign’s proprietary RealColor technology simplifies setup and calibration.

The cineo20 comes with a choice of three high quality projection lenses, and built in lens shift means that the projector can be installed in a wide variety of locations, and that no digital keystone correction or image processing is needed to ensure a perfectly rectangular image.

With the requirements of digital advertising making networkability increasingly important in today’s cinema market, projectiondesign has ensured that despite its low cost, the cineo20 projector is capable of being integrated into a sophisticated IT network.

“We have included networkability as standard,” continues Løkke. “And our optional ProNet asset management suite allows every cineo20 projector to be included on a network in a single cinema location, or even across multi-site installations. In this way, hundreds of these projectors can be controlled from a single interface, allowing the remote management of, for example, large cinema advertising networks.”
