Tickled Pink with ChamSys MagicQ PC Wing

Following PLASA 2006, ChamSys received a rather unusual request from Neil Carson of Enhance Production regarding a MagicQ PC Wing. Could he have a custom colour? Thinking that most clients would perhaps opt for black, ChamSys were delighted when Neil asked for a far more unusual colour: pink. Not just any shade of pink though. “I want a Wing the same colour as your hair,” asked Neil of Clare who works for ChamSys. As many noticed during PLASA 06, Clare has magenta coloured hair and Neil obviously felt this was the perfect colour for his MagicQ PC Wing and soon put his desk into action.
“The pink goddess is beautiful! I had it out on two shows immediately after receiving my custom PC Wing.” The Wing was used for the recent Sovereigns Ball event at RMA Sandhurst Military Academy, the second time a MagicQ PC Wing was used for the event, but the first for the bespoke Wing.
The MagicQ PC Wing was controlling 12 Colour Block DB4 units all acting as audience blinders over an arch truss and all dimmers (including six Moles, 36 Pars, three Source 4s, six floor cans and pinspots).
Neil stated: “The wing was used because the operator, Mark Jones realised there wasn’t enough power in the desk he was using at the time to run the LED flexibly and create many interesting looks. The MagicQ allowed us to quickly program stunning effects on the Colour block. By creating a few groups and using the powerful in-built FX generator, effects could be created in a fraction of the time I would have needed on other desks. Having the cue stack system allowed an effective use of playbacks meaning it was simple to stack a range of colours without having to scroll through pages.”
Jones, who was a first-timer user of MagicQ, found that after a few quick instructions from Neil, he was quickly able to create some eye-catching effects proving how easy the desk is to operate and the flexibility offered by a MagicQ PC Wing.
“We were quite surprised that someone asked for a pink MagicQ Wing, but are always happy to oblige to any custom requests,” stated Clare.
