Denmark’s Nordic Rentals Restructure Racks With Lab.gruppen FP+ Series Amps
Nordic Rentals A/S is one of Denmark's largest sound rental and production companies specialising in the provision of turnkey solutions for shows, events, theatre and TV productions both in Denmark and abroad. The company recently increased its already extensive inventory of Lab.gruppen amplifiers with a large quantity of new FP+ Series FP 13000s and FP 10000Qs.
Jens Elsborg, department manager audio for Nordic, comments: “We started the restructuring process a year or so ago with Lab.gruppen’s 4-channel C Series C 68:4 amplifiers, which we’ve now been using for over a year. The 4-channel package was very attractive to us. Even though the C Series is primarily an installation amplifier we went for them anyway as Lab.gruppen build quality is such that we had no fears of taking these amps on the road.” The C 68:4 delivers 1700W per channel into 4 ohms, is 2 RU high and weighs 12kg. Elsborg continues, “We also use the 4-channel C10:4X that provides 4 x 250 Watts at 4 , 8 or 16 ohms. All channel pairs can be bridged should we need to. We use one each of the C 68:4s and C 10:4X amplifiers to drive 8 Mach SP212 wedges.”
Nordic’s system power redesign continues with their latest Lab.gruppen purchase. “Now we added the FP10000Q (2500W per channel into 4 ohms) to drive the high frequencies and high mids of our Adamson Y-Axis cabinets or a combination of Adamson Spektrix and Mach Ballister subs. A tiny rack of two FP 10000Q amplifiers will drive 8 Spektrix and 6 Ballisters. Awesome!” says Elsborg. “This much power in a 2 RU amp that weighs only 10kg has great significance for middle sized tours especially. Volume counts in those situations and it means everything to viability and overall cost. When I can have that type of power in such small space it really adds to my possibilities, which was the main reason for our changeover. We already knew they sounded exceptionally musical! ”
In addition, Nordic has purchased Lab.gruppen FP+ Series FP 13000s primarily to drive their Mach Ballister sub bass cabinets. Elsborg continues “This is the first amp that I can run continuously at 6500W per channel into 2 ohms. And this is the first time I can explore the full potential of my subs! I use just a single FP 13000 to drive 8 Ballisters fast, precise and with immense headroom.”
This extensive restructuring of Nordic’s amplifier portfolio means that some fP 3400, fP 6400 and 4000 models are surplus to requirements and the company will be offering a number of these for sale through Lab.gruppen’s new Certified Pre-Owned program. This unique scheme provides a 3-year “as new” warranty on used Lab.gruppen amplifiers offered for sale through www.labgruppen.com.
Nordic prides themselves on their diversity and offer sound and production services for small local gigs through mid-sized festivals to support of the largest touring acts around. Their work is very diverse; the company recently handled local support for Stones and George Michael dates in Denmark and Status Quo’s latest European tour.
