High Fidelity Studios Choose HK Audio

Sunderland-based High Fidelity Studios have just completed the building of a dedicated and fully equipped rehearsal and pre-production suite, with HK Audio loudspeakers featured exclusively throughout the facility, soon to be officially opened by fellow North Easterner, John 'Music' Miles.

Established by David Dorn and Marc Graham to provide a facility for bands to rehearse in an environment akin to a full blown gig by providing equipment of a standard they would find at a top line event, the facility has certainly proved a big hit already with up and coming local musicians, as well as attracting top level clients from as far afield as the USA.

With its chilled out vista overlooking the River Wear, and with bands such as Universal artists Shiny Toy Guns amazed to find such a comprehensively-equipped facility outside of the capital, word is spreading quickly about the high standard of professionalism and quality at this new facility.

The main rehearsal studio features a 7m x 5m fully furnished stage with drum riser, a comprehensive choice of quality back-line and instruments, plus the luxury of a professional spec monitor rig, and a dedicated front of house loudspeaker system replicating real-world venue conditions, all under the control of a skilled team of in-house engineers.

Other recent clients include ‘Kubichek’, who used the facility for pre-production before the NME Awards tour, and ‘The Urge’, recently signed by Universal, who checked in to the studios for rehearsals prior to the German leg of their tour.

Being thoroughly satisfied with HK Audio systems already employed in their hire inventory, HK was the first choice when it came to deciding on loudspeakers for the new facility. ‘We chose HK because of sound quality - in our opinion it’s unmatched by anything else on the market at the price point,’ asserts MD David Dorn, “and we’re dedicated to using HK exclusively, both in the studios, and for our hire jobs. Local audiences and venues are continually impressed by the quality and clarity of the sound we achieve using HK - it’s just way cleaner-sounding than they’re used to.”

The main room’s monitor rig comprises a full set of HK Audio’s DART bi-amplified active monitors, supplemented by an EPX112A / EPX115A drum-fill, with a 3.2kW Actor DX system performing FOH duties.

With their hard-working and rapidly expanding HK hire inventory now including three Actor DX systems, a PROJECTOR system, a host of DART monitors and an EPX112A / EPX115A drum-fill, Director of Engineering, Marc Graham is pleased to report “...a growing roster of very satisfied local clients and venues, with guest engineers frequently commenting that they consistently enjoy the best sound on tour in the venues where we supply HK rigs.”

With a number of LA Audio EQ231G graphic equalisers being the most recent addition to High Fidelity’s audio stock, plans are also in place to increase their inventory of LA Audio signal processing equipment, as hire stock continues to expand in to meet rising demand.
