Soundweb London and ZonePro Join Exclusive Diners Club

A pair of Soundweb London BLU-80 CobraNet-compatible DSP devices from BSS Audio are at the centre of a Harman Pro installation in an ice hockey stadium in Switzerland.
The entire solution has been realised with HiQNet components. And while the BLU-80 devices process the main JBL PD5000 Precision Directivity series clusters in the main Rapperswil Jona ice hockey arena, dbx ZonePRO 640 (6-in/4-out) and ZonePRO 1260 (12-in/6-out) DSP devices manage the gain structure and routing in the stadium’s VIP restaurant and lounge bar areas, with a dbx ZC Fire Zone controller providing fire safety muting in the event of evacuation procedure.
Work on the stadium — home of ice hockey A-league club Rapperswil Jona Lakers — had begun back in 2005, and today the converted arena is one of the most modern in Switzerland, offering 6,100 seats, a VIP area and full catering.
Diners Club Switzerland offered considerable sponsorship to help ensure the project was realised — giving the oldest credit card company the opportunity to attach its name to the stadium, which is now known as the Diners Club Arena.
To increase the capacity, they raised the complete 420-ton heavy roof structure by around five metres and widened the sides accordingly. This has enabled the club to suspend an ultra-modern multimedia cube from the roof, featuring LED technology on all four sides.
By virtue of using different sound reinforcement simulations, a solution was evolved whereby it was possible to place all stadium loudspeakers on and around this multimedia cube.
Different JBL PD5000 series loudspeakers have been used to provide sound reinforcement of the tribunes, all under Soundweb London control.
The VIP Lounge, for the exclusive use of club members, is equipped with JBL Control 25AV loudspeakers, with several Crown XLS D amplifiers controlled by the dbx ZonePRO devices.
In conjunction with the separate 100V evacuation public address system, the concept fulfils the standard for electrical acoustic emergency warning systems, EN 60849.
All Harman Pro equipment was supplied by Swiss distributors, Dr. W.A. Günther AudioSystems AG.
