ABTT Theatre Show Keeps Pole Position
The ABTT Show’s organiser – The Association of British Theatre Technicians – has announced that its 29th event, staged at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls 13-14th June, was a resounding success.
With its attendance figures showing an increase on last year, UK visitor numbers were boosted by a strong attendance from mainland Europe as well as by attendees from the Theatres’ Trust annual conference 2007 – Performing Theatres? - which the ABTT co-sponsored. The broad visitor base included technical directors, technicians, technical managers, heads of drama departments, theatre and venue managers, sound and lighting designers, architects, consultants and building services managers.
The Show’s three halls were packed to capacity with 100 exhibiting companies presenting a spectrum of solutions for all involved with equipping, refurbishing or up-grading their drama studio, theatre, auditorium or multi-purpose performance space.
As the ABTT Theatre Show approaches its third decade it maintains its unique position as a dedicated showcase renowned for its networking opportunities and its un-intimidating atmosphere, which promotes a dialogue between end-users and manufacturers.
Show Director, Roger Fox commented: “It is particularly interesting to see how the Show has evolved into a key industry event. This year the Show had many important product launches and with visitor numbers showing a steady increase year on year we are confident of the Show’s continued growth into its third decade.”
The ABTT Annual Awards Dinner also expanded this year and was filled to capacity at The Commonwealth Club on Northumberland Avenue. Guests enjoyed the thoughts and anecdotes of veteran actor Anton Rogers.
ABTT Secretary Robin Townley presented the coveted chrome plated hook clamp trophies to the Awards winners (see separate news story).
The 30th edition of the ABTT Theatre Show will take place at The Royal Horticultural Halls on 11 and 12 June 2008.
