Magic Bullitz Blown Away with KV2 from LMC
Dave Ball, technical sales manager of LMC Audio Systems’ Birmingham branch, had the unusual task of fulfilling a long established client’s request - having been instructed by the client’s accountant to go out and spend his profits from a very successful previous year’s touring the UK!
Rob McCulloch, leader of the very talented four piece band Magic Bullitz, who tour the UK regularly providing high quality live entertainment for private events and productions, decided to improve the quality and ability of his already impressive PA system.
Rob commented: “I was not dissatisfied with the performance of my existing system and did not imagine that much improvement was possible, I thought I already had the best. What I was really looking for was to reduce size, weight and even other things like AC power consumption as well as saving time on set-up and sound checking.
“Having a long established business relationship with Dave Ball at LMC he was my first point of contact so when he immediately recommended the KV2 Audio product I was intrigued but also disbelieving of what Dave was telling me it could do.” Accordingly Dave set up a demonstration for Rob with Andy Austin-Brown of KV2 Audio using a simple system of two EX12 active speakers combined with two EX2.2 active bass modules.
The EX12 implements the revolutionary 3” NVPD large format compression driver found in KV2’s flagship VHD range of products. This makes for one of the most perfectly balanced and accurate, compact 2-way active boxes available on the market today. Complete on-board control courtesy of electronic crossovers, phase alignment, equalization and speaker protection are all integrated into the EX12’s amplifier module.
The EX2.2 is a double 12”, compact, active subwoofer system. On board electronics include a stereo crossover with High Pass outputs and full overdrive protection. Featuring KV2 Audio’s switching amplifier technology, precision manufactured woofer designs and a high efficiency, twin chamber acoustic design; the EX 2.2 delivers tight, fast, controlled bass response at very high output levels from a small cabinet footprint.
“Initial listening immediately dispelled my original disbelief and once compared to my existing system there was absolutely no doubt as to the improvements in output combined with a stunning clarity and realism, said Rob. “The flexibility this system offers is fantastic and it’s such a physically small package!”
Now in possession of the new KV2 Audio system, Rob is so impressed, he has already indicated that he intends to double up the system very soon.
