Verlinde at ABTT with R8CPU-VS Universal Programmable Controller

The R8CPU-VS controller has been especially designed for the programmed positioning and checking of Stagemaker variable speed motors as well as single and dual speed motors. Linked to the CC48 control centre, it creates extremely elaborate scenographic effects by automatically or semi-automatically driving up to 64 hoists. It is highly flexible to use, and guarantees the highest levels of safety.

The R8CPU-VS controller and its CC48 control centre is very flexible and based on a specially equipped standard PC. Each controller can control eight motors. A PC can drive up to eight controllers, thereby authorising the control of 64 simultaneous motors. Each motor can be easily added or withdrawn. The R8CPU-VS controller is unique in operating with variable speed motors and also with single or dual speed hoists, equipped with a Harting socket and an incremental coder. Motors can therefore be programmed in advance and controlled individually or as a group. Pre-selection, height adjustment, delays and synchronising groups may be separately set to create multiple combinations of scenographic effects depending on the different shows and concert halls.

The different hoist positions are determined by a coder bearing, and information is then recorded and temporarily saved in the R8CPU-VS in the event of the current being cut. Each controller can function independently with any control from the PC. Manual operation is therefore possible using keys, an LED display and a joystick. The power supply and motor control are combined in the same, single 16 contact cable. The controller is easily included in a 19īrack.

The R8CPU-VS controller guarantees the highest levels of safety. It complies with the EN61508 SIL3 and DIN56925/56950 BGV-C1 standards. The activation of a motor’s safety component such as the emergency Start/Stop, the load limiter or thermal protection will immediately stop the motor assembly. A phase inversion detection system is also included in the controller. The CC48 control centre uses redundant processors to operate the driver software. Also, the user may stop all hoists at any time whether the movement is manual or programmed.

Associated with the SM10V variable speed hoists, R8CPU-VS controllers offer a varied number of applications: suspended object directly from two or more hoists in line with asymmetric rotation point, circular or triangular object suspended from three hoists, rectangular object suspended from four hoists with angle change and X or Y synchronisation - the Stagemaker SM10V varies speed without lifting movement thresholds and guarantees the extremely accurate positioning of loads and their highly flexible use. The displacement speed can match requirements depending on the weight, type of load (sound systems, projectors, image walls) and the type of movement. Lifting is safe and accurate. The SM10V prevents ver-balancing and allows less experienced operators to handle loads without risk of damage.

The CC48 control centre PC is supplied with Windows XP software. It is designed so that operators can easily program and save movement sequences, or control events without any special training.
