Blitz Curved the Way for Welsh Assembly
Blitz recently supported BBC Wales in providing a truly unique AV design, equipment and support for their studio coverage of the 2007 National Assembly elections for Wales. This was the third general election for the National Assembly for Wales.
Dave Marson, production designer for the studio shows comments: "We were confident that Blitz would deliver the unique and distinctive design aligned with our requirements, both in terms of providing cutting edge technologies and delivering quality. The service which it provided for the studios exceeded our expectations and we were extremely impressed by their professionalism and dedication to ensuring that the studios were set up on time."
Blitz had only four days to build and programme screens in two separate studios, one for the Welsh language production and another for the English. Blitz provided a 7m x 2.7m concave LED screen with 3.9m x 0.77m extensions from the bottom left & top right of the wall for the Welsh language studio. For the English language studio a 7m x 2.7m concave LED screen with 6.2m x 0.77m extensions from the bottom left & top right of the wall was provided. Each screen was constructed from Toshiba Hi-res 6mm pitch LED which provided a high resolution backdrop with over a billion colours on the walls ensuring that the colour and picture quality was exceptional. The curved walls were fed by Encore processing systems which enabled the BBC to deliver multi layered scenic backdrops for both studios.
Jeff Bailey, head of division for Blitz TV Services explains: "This project has been extremely exciting to manage as we have created a fully integrated AV solution aligned to the production's needs. The combination of the curved high resolution LED & Encore processing delivered stunning results beyond the client's expectations. This project demonstrates our commitment to offering exceptional quality LED screens. The Concave screens with the powerful Encore processors were the perfect solution for BBC Wales."
