Blitz for Daddy Cool in Berlin
Blitz has successfully facilitated the technical transfer of the dynamic Daddy Cool production to Berlin where it will complete its European tour at the end of June. Following the success of the BoneyM musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, the production recently moved on to its European tour which started with a ten-week run in Berlin. Blitz accommodated the tight schedule of transporting its FOH equipment to ensure the seamless continuation of the show following its success in London.
Blitz provided a full range of services including a Cadac J Type with 60 mono and eleven stereo inputs with 24 outputs for FOH, with the monitor console comprising three D16 digital engines which included three M16 remote preamps. All of this was then fed into a ten-way Aviom personal mixing system for the musicians. This configuration was pioneered by sound designer Richard Brooker for the Daddy Cool production.
Blitz moved its equipment to a Big Top tent in central Berlin which can seat an audience of up to 2000 people. Richard Brooker explains: "The majority of the design needed for the show was based on the London production but moving to Berlin presented us with new challenges. With just ten days to load in before the first previews, the partnership with our technical specialist had to be perfect as it was crucial that the show came together quickly. In my experience Blitz's equipment can be relied upon for its versatility whilst still maintaining a high standard of technical expertise, which was imperative when working on a show which moved from a traditional theatre to a big tent."
Paul Hutton, managing director of Blitz Communications comments: "Blitz is proud to have been able to provide a wide variety of creative technical solutions over the years to keep up with the changing design briefs of theatre sets. The challenges of supplying equipment for a production in a big tent presented us with an opportunity to showcase our most advanced technologies in an innovative and unique way."
