grandMA on the Vistula

With a huge multimedia show the Polish town Plock recently celebrated the ‘Verva Festival 2007’ on the banks of the river Vistula. “For the complex set-up spread over a long distance, the grandMA control system proved to be an invaluable tool. Its huge pre-programming abilities saved a lot of time during the design as well as during the programming part of the project development,” said lighting designer Pawel “Spider” Pajak. One grandMA full-size and one grandMA light were used for the stage lighting and video server control. Additionally, another grandMA light controlled the searchlights using two wireless DMX lines. Two MA NSPs and grandMA 3D were also included in the event.
“Since the set-up consisted of intelligent lights and video on stage with the searchlights being set on the other side of the river, we found working with the MA Net ethernet network very stable and reliable. The grandMA ‘World’-function was particularly useful, as it allowed us to work on two or three different consoles at the same time during the programming,” continued Pajak, and concluded: “Using grandMA gives me a lot of satisfaction and almost always a new experience.”
The spectacular finale has been designed and performed to culminate the festival. Three famous Polish bands started the evening with their shows. Following the multimedia spectacle, that included music and lights, fireworks on the river banks and from barges docked on the river, commenced. The stage and conductor for the music, lights and fireworks was placed on the bank on one side of the river. The show finale was placed on the other side and on a barge.
Lighting designer, programmer and operator was Pawel “Spider” Pajak with co-programmer and operator Tomasz ‘Szwelik’ Szwelicki. Scena FM and A&O Lighting Technology participated in the realisation.
