Kain Audio Fit Top Hotels with ZonePRO Solution

Austrian Harman Pro distributors, Kain Audio, have fitted out two high-pedigree, but vastly different hotels in Austria, using a ZonePRO audio solution from dbx Professional Products, a Salt Lake City-based manufacturer of professional signal processing products and a division of Harman International (NYSE-HAR).

Said Franz Werner, sales manager for Kain Audio: “ZonePRO is the perfect answer when we are looking to send different audio sources to many different zones, with a paging override — as is the case in hotel applications.”

Kain divided Roomz into ten different sound zones and Bleibergerhof into 12, using a ZonePRO 641 and ZonePRO 1261 in the former and a pair of ZonePRO 1261’s in the latter.

With 12 inputs and six outputs — and extremely flexible routing — the ZonePro 1261 is a highly-versatile tool. Each output zone can be configured with either a mixer or a router with primary, priority and paging sources — and both Priority Override and Page Ducking.

In Vienna, the futuristic 152-bed Roomz is a frenzy of different colours and shapes and already an urban architectural landmark.

Situated in the southernmost part of Austria (in Bad Bleiberg), the more rural Bleibergerhof Hotel takes advantage of the area’s high altitude thermal waters and is a spa hotel, set in an unparalleled natural setting. Both hotels are operated by an investment group.

Kain Audio had been introduced to these projects by the architects, Archisphere, who were engaged by both hotels. Mindful of bad hotel audio experiences in the past they sought professional advice, and the proposal made by Kain Audio’s Franz Werner and Alexander Reitterer was adopted.

Both hotels used different audio contractors — Landsteiner were responsible for carrying out the fit-out in the Austrian capital, while Event Marketing were tasked with Bleibergerhof’s installation. Kain Audio provided installation support — notably with the programming of the ZonePRO’s.

Background music for both installations runs from an Apple Mac, equipped with a high-quality USB sound card, with symmetrical XLR outputs.

Coverage is dedicated to Reception, Bar, Lounge, Lobby and Restaurant — with a separate ZonePRO dedicated to the conferenceroom in each location. In addition, the Bleibergerhof provides coverage for the spa area, while Roomz brings in DJ’s from time to time, who utilise the plug-in point provided.

The solution has satisfied the requirements of both the hotels and the architects, who remarked that they had never before experienced audio of such high quality audio in a hotel environment.
