Shuttlesound Promotes a Compact Future at PLASA

The headlines on the Shuttlesound stand at PLASA this year are of course all about the 80th anniversary of Electro-Voice, the legendary loudspeaker designer and manufacturer behind some of the most significant innovations in the history of sound reinforcement.

New to the UK is EV’s ZxA5 powered speaker, which features an integrated high output, lightweight digital amplifier that produces 1000W LF and 250W HF. Perfect for an incredibly wide range of applications, the DVX3150 provides the ultimate in lightweight reliability… but with a heavyweight 500W power rating.

UK distributor Shuttlesound is focusing its high-end product display on compact line array, featuring flown hangs from three different ranges, the XLC, XLD and XLE. The well-established XLC design has recently been given a major boost in the shape of the DVX upgrade, incorporating new EV 12-inch low-frequency/mid-bass woofers into the XLC127 cabinets, giving greater high-SPL stability and full-bandwidth intelligibility than previously available.

EV’s smalller XLD systems are also capable of producing concert SPL levels on full bandwidth in small to medium sized venues. And the ultra-compact XLE systems are ideal for critical audio requirements where overall cluster size is the highest priority. Both systems are well suited for many types of live and install applications.

For the live sound professional who is not looking for line array solutions, EV’s portable Phoenix system offers tremendous SPL and sonic headroom, as well as ease of transport and set-up. Utilizing dual ND2 neodymium compression drivers on a manifold horn and state of the art DVX woofers, Phoenix loudspeakers can perform louder for longer with less stress on system components.

Phoenix marks the first full deployment of 18, 15 and 12-inch new DVX woofers across an entire EV line. Each cabinet also features two of the company's latest ND2 neodymium 2-inch HF compression drivers. Two basic Phoenix systems are available: one based around the PX2122 dual 12-inch two-way with 30x45-degree dispersion, the other around the PX2152 dual 15-inch two-way with 60x45-degree dispersion. Each is used with the PX2181, a tour-quality, dual 18-inch subwoofer designed for solid, thumping low-frequency reproduction.
