Korean Percussionists Purchase Martin Wavefront
Dutch company TM Audio, part of the Ampco Flashlight Group, has sold a complete Martin Audio Wavefront W8C rig to Korean traditional percussion group, Dulsori, after the group appeared on this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe and WOMAD world music festival. These performances formed part of a complete European tour.
The demand for natural amplification of their dynamic drum performance matched perfectly with the Martin Audio Wavefront characteristics.
The sale was the result of a team effort on the part of the AFG, and was co-ordinated by Dieter van Denzel, Ampco Pro Rent’s production manager at WOMAD. Playing through the Martin Audio Synco system supplied by production company (and Synco partners), RG Jones; the ensuing sales enquiry was routed back to TM Audio’s Jaap Pronk in Utrecht, who processed the order.
Dulsori purchased four Martin Audio W8C’s and four WS218X’s — to be groundstacked in pairs on either side of the stage — and four Martin Audio F12’s for stage monitoring (along with Martin Audio system management).
The loudspeakers were supplied as part of a complete turnkey system, including all necessary cabling, mics, flightcases, outboards — and off course Martin Audio MA amps.
Dulsori were one of the surprise hits at both UK events. Founded in 1984, the group’s passionate and colourful performances are already giving audiences a real insight into Korean culture. Dressed in national costume, playing traditional drums — and now armed with Wavefront sound reinforcement — they are giving a true definition to World Music.
