LED Neon Flex for Exhibition and Event Lighting

Once the accepted solution for linear lighting, traditional neon tubing is also cursed with inherent technical weaknesses. Now, at long last, the effect of neon has been reproduced using LEDs, removing all the drawbacks of gas filled, glass neon. Not only does LED Neon Flex perform in conventional applications but, in its various guises, is also ideal for up or down lighting as well as colour changing using RGB technology.
Traditional neon is made from fragile glass, resulting in huge shipping costs and a high likelihood of damage. It is only suitable for static install projects where robustness isn’t an issue. Neon Flex, on the other hand, is constructed from flexible, durable, lightweight PVC - the LEDs being encapsulated in a unique oval jacket which diffuses uniformly. It can be cut to order or supplied on drums, allowing for on-site fabrication.
Glass neon can only be shaped by highly skilled glass blowers who heat the glass until it is white hot before forming it. In contrast, Neon Flex can be formed by anyone, without any special tools or training. It can be bent into curves as small as 4cm radius and can be cut at regular intervals.
Since we are all urged to consider our carbon footprint it is also worth bearing in mind that traditional neon consumes up to 8.75 watts per linear 30 cm, running at 15,000 volts. Compare this to neon flex, running at just 2.6 watts per linear 30cm on a safe, 24 volt supply. Not only is this environmentally sound, but also allows for the product to be used where temporary power supply is an issue.
Depending on the nature of application, the flex can be supplied in one colour red, yellow, blue, green and white - or colour-changing RGB format. It is also available with either diffused sleeving, mimicking conventional neon tubing, or as a crystal version, with transparent casing and highly reflective backing, ideal for applications where light throw is important.
