5 Star Supplies Stage Electrics
Flightcase manufacturer 5 Star has supplied a large quantity of lighting trunks to Bristol based rental company Stage Electrics.
The cases are all built to 5 Star’s popular ‘Super Tour’ specification, and Stage Electrics are using this particular batch of cases to accommodate different types of Vari*Lite fixtures. Fourteen are housing twin Vari*Lite 2000s, nine for twin V*L3000s and five for twin V*L 3500 luminaries. Each case holds two fixtures, complete with clamps, allowing for quick and easy handling during get-ins and outs. Also supplied as part of the order were 25 trunks to house their ETC Revolution fixtures.
Internally the lights are protected by tough polyethylene foam, fixed at strategic positions to ensure a high level of shock protection. The cases can be ‘up-ended’ for transportation and storage due to additional internal plywood supports mounted just behind load bearing areas of the fixture.
All the cases including the internal supports were machined on 5 Star’s two Thermwood CNC machining centres. Their new and recently installed CNC controlled aluminium saws also assisted in producing accurate extrusion cutting.
All cases that 5 Star supplies to Stage Electrics feature a two colour screen printed logo and engraved handles, adding both security and corporate branding to the smart black Super Tour trunks.
Stage Electrics’ Rob Page says: “5 Star are our primary choice for hire stock cases, and we have a great working relationship with them. We really appreciate the level of documentation that is supplied with their quotes – it gives a very clear vision of the product you will receive.”
The cases were delivered to Stage Electrics’ London office and immediately went to work helping facilitate the get-out of ‘Mary Poppins’ from London’s West End. They are now out on tours of ‘Equus’ and ‘Zorro’ - both of which loaded out of the company’s Bristol HQ.
