Donny Osmond Tours UK with Major Tom and Meyer Sound MILO

Legendary entertainer Donny Osmond performed a series of show dates in the UK in late 2007 in support of his current release, Love Songs of the 70s. For the fourth tour in a row, Osmond worked with UK-based Major Tom Ltd., which provided a powerful Meyer Sound system of MILO high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers.

“Donny is very knowledgeable about sound, more so than many artists,” explains Major Tom’s principal, Lars Brogaard. “He records his shows to Pro Tools every night, and he loves the MILO system.”

The touring system was comprised of two arrays of 15 MILO loudspeakers and one MILO 120 high-power expanded coverage curvilinear array loudspeaker per side, augmented by two side hangs of 12 MICA compact high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers each. Twelve 600-HP compact high-power subwoofers were flown, six per side, next to the MILO arrays, and four more 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofers were stacked next to the stage. Several M’elodie ultracompact high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers were used as front fills. A Galileo loudspeaker management system handled drive and processing, while RMS remote monitoring system oversaw system status. The loudspeaker configuration in each venue was designed using data from MAPP Online Pro acoustical prediction program.

Brogaard is pleased to be on another successful tour with Donny Osmond. “I’ve worked with Donny when he came to the UK with his brothers in 1978,” says Brogaard. “He understands the technical aspect and appreciates the work that goes into a production. It’s a true pleasure working with him.”
