QSC PL3 Powers New ETO Stadium

QSC PL3 Powers New ETO Stadium

Interton Electroacoustics has completed the first phase of a major sound reinforcement installation at the ETO football stadium in the Hungarian city of Györ, using QSC Audio Products components.

Located in the north-western part of the country (100km from Budapest), the work covers the renewal of the Eastern stand.

As part of the second phase, the new QSC PowerLight 3 series amplifiers specified in this upgrade will be extended to cover the new Western and Southern grandstands, which will give the stadium an overall seating capacity of 20,000.

At the same time the amplifiers will be connected to Interton’s CobraNet backbone via the DataPort, allowing them to be monitored using QSC’s Basis processors, operating under QSCcontrol.net.

Home to Györ ETO FC, the multi-purpose stadium’s main investor, Quaestor Inc., has a subsidiary in the US, and based on the template for previous projects, wished to extend their use of Community stadium loudspeakers in the ETO Stadium.

As Community’s Hungarian distributors, Interton were asked to design and install the system. “But during the project we were also appointed Hungarian distributor of QSC — and so it became an obvious choice to use QSC amplification,” said Interton MD, Géza Balogh.

Under the project management of Richárd Bauer, the company was asked to produce an expandable system capable of delivering high SPL for the new 8,000-seat Eastern stand, working for the low-voltage division of Quaestor (Quaestel).

The system is divided into two zones, the speakers taking feeds from the outputs of a pair of QSC’s PL340’s.

In addition to an uprated power spec (from the PL2 series it is designed to replace), the new generation amplifiers offer higher input voltage, selectable sensitivity, zero signal latency and easily adjusted rear panel switches with colour-coded LED indicators.

According to Géza Balogh, the client was delighted with the result. “We succeeded in providing a high SPL, and in some cases the operators had to reduce the volume, since the system was too loud for the residential buildings situated close to ETO Park.”

The second phase will begin in Q2, 2008.
