Safety First with Lab.gruppen in China

Traffic safety is so important to the Chinese that they incorporated a special Traffic Safety Awards ceremony as part of a huge Lab.gruppen-powered variety show that was held at the 70,000-capacity Beijing Workers Stadium to celebrate the Chinese New Year in early January.

Beijing traffic police officers and their families came from all over the canton to witness the presentation of the awards to those who have made a valuable contribution to the work for the traffic management. The event was organized by the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau and China Central Television (CCTV) at the Beijing Worker's Stadium, a site that has undergone extensive renovation in order to host the football quarterfinals and semi-finals for the coming Summer Olympics in 2008. Many local dignitaries attended, including the Beijing government management team, the Ministry of Public Security.

In addition to the awards ceremony, there were performances from a number of renowned Chinese pop stars including the ‘Twins’, a Hong Kong duo who have acted in several movies and advertisements and are very well-known in Asia; ‘Sun Nan’, the first Chinese pop singer ever to hold concerts overseas and who also performed in the 2008 Olympic Theme Song ‘Forever Friends’ music video; and Mr. Wang Yifu, the head coach of China's National Shooting Team who also participated in the event.

A combination of eight Lab.gruppen FP+ Series FP 10000Qs, two FP3400 and six FP6400 amplifiers were responsible for powering a large Adamson Y-Axis Line array system, which comprised eight Y18 and two stacks of six Spektrix and two Spektrix subs on each side of the stage. Processing was courtesy of Dolby Lake.
