Blackout Structures a Global Community

Earlier this year at one of London's premier architectural landmarks, Blackout supported the first-ever Pangea Day - a global event bringing the world together through film. Live events in Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro were simultaneously linked to produce a programme of powerful films, live music and visionary speakers which was broadcast live to millions of people worldwide.

At thousands of local viewing parties, hosted by Friends of Pangea Day, people connected with one another to share Pangea Day which was a worldwide success, appearing on millions of screens and shared at more than 1,700 events and parties

Blackout's role was to build a main stage and roof structure together with a 10m x 10m supporting structure for a 9m x 7m screen for the event. As Kevin Monks, Blackout's installation director said: "Working at this central London building always gives a sense of making London a better place for Londoners - and we're very careful to respect the fabric of the wonderful architecture - but this was a global event to promote a global community and even more rewarding as a result."
