Buddy on Tour with Trantec Wireless

After a 13-year run in the West End, the show Buddy continues to play to full houses throughout its current UK tour. The musical is a biography of Buddy Holly, from his struggling teenage days in Texas, his climb to national success, and to his tragic death in a plane crash. The music is unmistakable and over 20 of Buddy Holly's signature songs feature throughout the show.

And ensuring Peggy Sue gets married every night without a hitch are 16 channels of Trantec S5.5 wireless. The system was recently purchased by one of London's leading theatre hire companies, Thames Audio, who have had over 17 years experience of providing a very custom sound system for this unique portrayal of Buddy's life and music.

Sound designer and director of Thames Audio, Peter Cox says: "I am very happy Buddy has had another thriving year on tour. The combination of a good crew and first class equipment has proven itself; we get very positive comments about the sound everywhere it goes."

Graham Simpson, Thames Audio's technical director adds: "We have been using Trantec wireless for well over a decade now and a steady growth in business has meant having to expand our current stocks of wireless systems. I was very impressed with the list of features on the new S5.5 range and Trantec's price point could not be touched by any other manufacturer. The belt packs are a joy to work with - not only are they ultra small, but you get up to 11 hours out of a single AA battery. Their metal housing also guarantees they are going to last for a very long time, which is extremely important for a touring theatre company. The system as a whole has proven to be a model of reliability and we look forward to many more years on the road."

Based on Trantec's award winning S6000 series, the S5 benefits from high quality, true-diversity operation utilizing credit card size beltpacks, frequency autoscan, in-built Infra-red data link, intuitive LCD displays, and rugged metal enclosures for both transmitter and receiver.

Trantec's head of sales and marketing, Mark Parkhouse says: "The S5 Series promises a powerful set of features and is available in handheld, instrument and lavalier versions. It is undeniably a popular choice in the theatre world and provides a quality performance at a fraction of the price you'd expect. Thames Audio have been supplying the West End and UK tours for many years and we are proud of their continued support."
