LSC and White Light Help Relight The Tower of London
White Light, the exclusive UK distributor for products from Australian lighting manufacturer LSC, has recently supplied one of LSC's Redback dimmer racks to the Tower of London as part of a new display of a scale model of the Tower itself.
Designed as a cost-effective, flexible, compact dimming system, Redback fits six 10amp digital dimmers into a 19" rack-mount pack that is available with a variety of output connectors. With programmable minimum and maximum levels and dimmer curves for each channel, a soft-patch facility, and on-board support for five scenes with fade times, and for four chases with speed control, Redback is a great choice for controlling exhibition and display lighting.
At the Tower of London, the Redback is being used to run a new lighting scheme designed by Hansjörg Schmidt, lighting a large scale model of the tower describing events during the Peasant Revolt of the 14th century. The theatrical-style lighting uses a simple cue structure to move from dawn to nightfall, highlighting key events during the day. The Redback is run from a show control system that also runs the display's sound.
"The Redback was very well suited to this project," notes Schmidt, adding that he was "very impressed with White Light's swift and efficient handling of the ordering and delivery process."
