Lab.gruppen PLMs Drive V-DOSC Through Russia

Russian rental company, the Live Sound Agency, is enjoying an extremely busy autumn/winter season following their recent investment in 32 Lab.gruppen Powered Loudspeaker Management (PLM) systems earlier in the year. The PLM devices, which are used to power their L'Acoustics V-DOSC rig, were supplied by Lab.gruppen's exclusive Moscow-based Russian distributor, I.S.P.A.

Live Sound Agency's Yuriy Sokolov, is delighted with their new purchase: "The combination of one of the world's greatest system processors, Dolby Lake, with the tried and tested amplifier technology from Lab.gruppen in one single device is a stroke of genius!" he enthused. "There is no discomfort for the user in that everything is already familiar to him and there is a good preset library to work from initially. After that, it's easy to customise if necessary. The result is that you are efficient straight away because your time is spent tuning the system, and not having to learn new software!"

Indeed, Yuriy acknowledges that PLM has completely revolutionised their way of working. "We have had to completely reconstruct our PA system," he confirms. "We had to familiarise ourselves with digital technology and rebuild our amp racks as well. In fact, we've built two types of rack: one comprising three PLM 10000Qs for bigger systems, and one with just a single unit for working with acoustic surround systems.  PLM is totally changing the working approach of sound engineers who are no longer limited by the quantity of processors available. He can access the parameters of any part of his system at any time to make changes on the fly. It is a genuine opportunity for creative work, and our V-DOC systems sounds better than ever."

Yuriy also cited the space-and weight-saving capacities of PLM as a further advantage. "We've saved considerably on shipping and storage costs, but if anything, we've actually increased our power capacity, so that makes us very happy!"

PLM is now the main amplifier for Live Sound Agency, and their L'Acoustics V-DOSC PA system is built on it. So far this autumn, Live Sound Agency has provided the PA for Deep Purple, Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Santana and Rod Stewart. One of the most recent shows was a Deep Purple concert for 20,000 people at the Olympic Stadium (Olimpisky) in Moscow (pictured). Live Sound Agency provided a total of 64 V-DOSC cabinets and 32 SB 28 subs, all powered by 32 Lab.gruppen PLM 10000Q systems. The Offspring, Scorpions and Prodigy will be the next acts to benefit from Live Sound Agency's supercharged PLM-powered PA system, so if you like your music loud and whipped up with lashings of power, then Moscow is definitely the place for you this winter!
