Stage Electrics Consider Themselves at Home with Oliver!

Stage Electrics has recently been awarded a contract to supply all production lighting and media server equipment for a brand new production of Oliver! The Musical in London's West End. Cameron Mackintosh presents his triumphant new staging of Lionel Bart's masterpiece Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane - it was last seen at the Palladium in 1994. The new production promises to be even more spectacular and stars Rowan Atkinson as Fagin, a cast and orchestra of over 100 and an exciting new Nancy and Oliver (winners of BBC One's I'd Do Anything). Rupert Goold (Best Director, 2008 Olivier Awards) along with Tony Award winning director and choreographer Matthew Bourne, will be using every inch of London's greatest musical stage with sensational sets by Anthony Ward.
Lighting design is by Paule Constable, assisted by associates Beky Stoddart and Nick Simmons. Nick Simmons is also the programmer. Paule won the 2005 and 2006 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Lighting Design, she was also a nominee for four further productions and for a 2007 Tony Award on Broadway. The show is fitting up at present under production electrician Gerry Amies.
For the production, Stage Electrics has made a significant investment in EvenLED, purchasing 140 panels of the latest 16 bit version. Each panel of the colour mixing LED product measures 1 metre square and is fully DMX controlled. An ETC Eos desk will be used for the control system complete with media servers for the EvenLED control. Stage Electrics' comprehensive list of equipment supplied for the show will include: Clay Paky Alpha Beam 300's with custom gobos, a large quantity of ETC Source 4 Revolutions complete with shutter and iris modules, Martin and Vari*Lite moving heads including MAC 2000 series fixtures and VL3000Q series as well as over 250 scrollers all loaded with custom scrolls manufactured by Stage Electrics' in-house colour cutting department. Stage Electrics are also supplying Snow Boy Wet Snow Machines; this will be the first time a West End show has used this new DMX controlled unit, which is new to Stage Electrics' hire stock.
Oliver! Previews start in December.
