Stage Electrics Provide The Mall with their Winter Wonderland

Stage Electrics is supplying its biggest outdoor ice rink of the year to The Mall at Cribbs Causeway for its spectacular Winter Wonderland in Bristol. Stage Electrics is providing complete event management for the shopping centre's Christmas attraction, from installing the 1,000 square metre ice rink, to sound, lighting, ice marshals, chalets housing skating equipment, a Christmas market and catering, to health and safety management.

The rink, the largest outdoor rink in the South West, will be open from 13 November until 4 January 2009, offering hour-long skating sessions each accommodating 300 skaters. This year's rink is 50% bigger than last year and aims to attract even more skaters than before. Last year 30,000 skaters used the rink. A magnificent 30ft Christmas tree adorned with 2,000 sparkling LED lights, creates a stunning focal point in the centre of the rink. As night falls, a festive feel comes into effect as thousands of fairy lights on the surrounding trees start twinkling.

New for 2008 is a Christmas Market with 20 wooden chalet-style stalls selling a variety of gifts and stocking fillers. Shoppers can also buy Christmas trees, holly and mistletoe. Catering includes sweet crêpes, organic pork rolls, hot chocolate and mince pies. The Mall's Winter Wonderland features Santa's magical castle where children can meet Father Christmas.

Stage Electrics and The Mall have worked in partnership for three years to provide the stunning Winter Wonderland. The Mall's ice rink is now an established attraction, attracting shoppers and other visitors from across the region. Ian Tregaskis, live events commercial manager at Stage Electrics comments: "We are delighted to be working with The Mall again on this flagship project. Its Winter Wonderland is a Christmas spectacle that delights all visitors, and this year's larger rink will please all keen ice skaters!"

Maria Crayton, marketing manager at The Mall, adds: "Skating outside is a fantastic winter activity that has grown hugely in popularity in recent years. It feels really Christmassy and is something that the whole family can enjoy together."
