Harlequin Floors for London Strictly Dancing Event

Harlequin Floors for London Strictly Dancing Event

Harlequin Fiesta laid on a Liberty Sprung Floor system enabling the recently refurbished Peter Jones department store in Chelsea to recreate a ballroom recalling something of the era of nineteen-thirties tea dances.

Thanks to Harlequin Fiesta and portable Liberty Panels, Harlequin contracts department was able to install a professional sprung floor on the hard terrazzo surface of the ground floor of the famous London store for a ‘one night only' event. Harlequin Fiesta has an oak strip patterned surface and is proving a popular choice for ballroom dancing. It is well suited to social dancing but also stands up to the rigours of percussive dance, such as tap and Irish dance. Harlequin Liberty is a floating floor system composed of sprung floor panels and available for either permanent dance studio installation or as stage panels for touring.

Between 6pm and 7pm Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup, finalists in the television's popular Strictly Come Dancing performed a demonstration, dancing the waltz, foxtrot and samba in front of 2,000 shoppers packing the surrounding galleries. Then from 7pm to 8pm six other professionals gave classes in ballroom dance and in the final hour of the event from 8pm to 9pm the dance floor was open to the general public.

Neil Cassley of Rain Communications UK, who specified the floor on behalf of the Peter Jones store said: "Harlequin added the perfect sheen to our event, delivering a bespoke ballroom dance floor in remarkable time."
