impressions Illuminate Brand Event for Philips

At this year's Simplicity event staged by Philips in Moscow, 164 impressions from GLP were deployed. The LED moving heads were used both for effects lighting and to illuminate the exhibits on view. The Philips brand event was staged in several connected marquees, the largest of which was 50 metres wide and 80 metres long.

The GLP moving heads were chosen because the Luxeon K2 LEDs used in the impression are manufactured by Philips. Another powerful argument in their favour was their lightness, which allowed considerably more lamps to be deployed than would have been possible had conventional spotlights been preferred. The weight advantage over a discharge lamp comes to twelve kilograms. In all, the installation here involved the use of 14,760 LEDs in 164 impressions.

Responsible for the rigging and the moving light equipment was the firm of TOPAS AG of Oberndorf. The Technical Director and Lighting Designer was Dietrich Krömer of Cologne. Service providers in situ looked after the conventional lighting.

Moscow's Red Square provided the setting for the Philips Simplicity event, which the company organizes every year. This year it ran from the 15th to the 18th October. The event is designed to showcase to the general public as well as the media the pioneering and innovative projects of the company. The motto of this year's event was "Healthy People, Healthy Living, Healthy Planet".
