James Bond and a Quantum of Pandoras Box
This year's most successful box-office hit ‘Quantum of Solace' features intriguing action scenes at the world famous outdoor opera venue, Bregenz Festival. The original scenery of the opera ‘Tosca' acted as a background for the movie and during performances of the opera, four-and-a-half minutes of pure Bond!
An oversized eye was created on a monumental and mobile 25 by 50 metre wall. Heart of the "eye" was the iris, 12 metres in diameter, which could be converted as a stage. For the impressive scenery of ‘Tosca', stage designer Johannes Leiacker won the ‘Stage Design of the Year 2008' award from the international Opera Magazine 'Opernwelt'.
The 140sqm mobile LED wall is integrated into the scenery and controlled by a Pandoras Box media server from Coolux.
In addition to the production of Tosca and the James Bond shooting, the stage at the Bodensee was also used by the German TV-broadcaster ZDF as a studio for the European Soccer Cup 2008.
