Martin at Gatecrasher in Folkstone

HD Promotions invited everyone to their biggest event in November, with the arrival of worldwide acclaimed king of clubs Gatecrasher. Once again the stunning and elegant Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone was the destination for a night of uplifting dance music provided by some of the worlds most talented and recognised DJs.
Gravesend Sound & Light installed the lights for the event which was exclusively Martin professional lighting. This consisted of four LC Panels, 24 MAC 250 Kryptons, four MAC 600s, four MAC 500s, four MAC 550s all controlled with a Martin LightJockey.
Kev Harris of HD Promotions describes the concept behind the lighting for the event: "Our main aim with every event at the Live Nation venue is to push the limits with all lighting equipment and production. Martin was a pleasure to have on board with the Gatecrasher event."
Richard Bishop, MD of Gravesend Sound & Light commented: "This has been one of the most spectacular light shows we have done for a while. It was fantastic to work with HD Promotions and Martin and we definitely look forward to more of the same in the future."
24 of the Martin products were used in the trussing and rig bars around the venue and the LC Panels were placed at centre point on the stage. The DJs were to be present above the screens with interactive visuals created specifically for them. Kev expands on this: "The lighting gave this particular event its individuality with more presence and focus on the stage rather than the rig itself."
"The LC Panel was an amazingly vibrant piece of equipment." Kev continues. "[As a foursome], they created an effect within the night of which we had not accomplished before. The high detail and quality meant we were able to create a more interactive visual experience."
Kev explains: "The main feature that we found useful was the speed that the equipment could be built together and erected on the stage. The screens were easy to transport in and out of the venue. This was of upmost importance as very little time is had to make these events come together on the day." All Martin equipment was used for the full 8 hours of the event, plus it setting up time and no technical problems occurred.
Kev commented on the challenges they had, "Our biggest challenge with the screens was the adaption of the software used by our VJ. Gravesend Sound & Light, 20/20 Media productions and VJ Tara Howell spent many hours aligning and re sizing videos to fit the screens needs. We were aware that the screens already had software with them but we were very keen to get as much inter-activeness out of the equipment as we could. This challenge was overcome with great patience and some amazing Gatecrasher visuals were portrayed."
HD Promotions would like to say a massive thank you to the hard work of Gravesend Sound & Lighting whom installed all the equipment on the night. Kev adds, "A massive thank you to 20/20 Media productions and VJ Tara Howell. The whole organization of the sound light and production is maintained by my colleague Mark Dickson who spent many days and hours on site pulling everyone together to complete a great event."
