Stage One Help Launch Westfield London

Stage One were part of the team creating the setting for the opening of the prestigious £1.7 billion Westfield premium retail and leisure destination in London. The company was asked to create a high quality, beautifully finished environment for the launch experience and subsequent launch shows. Working for Jack Morton Worldwide, the experiential marketing agency, their involvement included the construction of a range of staging and the provision of various scenic elements, all of which was delivered in just over a week.

The central location for the show, in The Atrium, required a very high standard of finish for every aspect of the build as it was important that the overall look fitted in with the luxurious feel of Westfield London.

Simon Wood, sales director, Stage One, said: "The team faced the major challenge of building the set around the many shop fitters hard at work to meet their completion deadlines." He continued: "A flexible approach and sheer hard work by the entire team meant that we were able to successfully complete the final fit up in good time for the high profile launch.

"Creating the performance area included the construction of the 15m wide main stage and cladding a large amount of trusswork, including the structure forming a 7.5m high proscenium arch. We also constructed the two catwalks, orchestra ‘pit' and the large backstage area. A fashion show utilised the two 13m long catwalks that ran along either side of the orchestra pit, with these and the main stage being given a white vinyl floor and grey laminate fascia.

"Backstage, we created internal casement walkways, dressed to create ‘white tunnels'. These were used to provide a pre-show of the models as they made their way to the main stage, which was then relayed to the audience via large screens. We also provided a press photography stage, control area and numerous camera positions."
