Construction Concert in Turkey
One year from completion, the Adnan Saygun Arts Centre in Izmir, Turkey, hosted its first concert. Dressed in black tie and hard hats, the Izmir Symphony Orchestra gave a special performance for the site’s construction workers.
Due to open in late 2008, the Adnan Saygun will be a multi-disciplinary arts centre incorporating gallery spaces, a 1,100 seat concert hall and a 300-seat recital hall. Arup’s building engineering office in Istanbul was commissioned to support the local architect in the design of the building, bringing in the full venue consultancy services of Arup Acoustics.
