Fine Art Save for the Theatre and Save the Planet
Hertfordshire-based Fine Art Professional’s recent sale of LED moving head luminaire fixtures to Redditch Palace Theatre has brought about considerable savings for the council-funded venue – not least in terms of time and planning, but most importantly, financial savings toward the ever-increasing costs associated with energy bills.
Redditch Palace Theatre’s technical manager, Tim Mackrill, appointed eight Fine LED moving head fixtures – consuming just 108W per head – to replace the existing 24 1000W par cans, thus swapping an outdated static wash offering a mere four colours, for an available six million-colour spectrum with an additional and inclusive strobe function – with six of the positions controlled from the stage.
The units are positioned two on the front of the circle for cross fills, two on booms for faces and spotlight and two each on two main stage lighting bars. Mackrill commented: “The lights are now a part of our default lighting rig, which all the touring companies use whilst in the theatre. There’s no manual colour change or head repositioning now and no gels to burn out so shows are far quicker to set up. We save so much time and it shows in the quality of lighting work – the extra time on plotting as improved the overall output tenfold.
In terms of real energy consumption, the Fine LED moving heads have saved the theatre in excess of 2000kW/hrs across two months: a significant cost-saving for the local theatre. Mackrill explained: “They’ve made a tremendous difference. I actually did a lot of research before I found Fine Art Professional’s products and I calculated that any replacement would be good. My original search was for an equivalent light output of a 650W lamp and I expected only to find a fixed head unit.
“When I found Fine Art, I was delighted. I’d found a moving head fixture of superb comparable quality, with advanced technology and enhancements I did not think I would be able to find in my price range. Fine Art offers tremendous value for money and the fast delivery and commitment to service is just further added value from the company.”
