KV2 Audio Blows Away to the Lakes

AC Lighting Audio division has recently supplied a KV2 Audio EX System for the recently refurbished 100-capacity studio in Keswick’s beautifully scenic Theatre by the Lake.

The theatre’s technical team – chief technician, Andrew Lindsay, and his deputy, Matt Hall – found introduction with both AC and KV2 Audio at the AC North trade exhibition in 2007. Unrelated brothers in audio, AC’s Pete Butler and KV2 Audio’s Mick Butler took a system to be demonstrated in the main auditorium of the lake-side theatre and by happy chance were able to set up direct a to b comparisons with sound systems of no less than five other loudspeaker manufacturers.

The KV2 Audio system, in the words of Matt Hall, “just blew the others away.” He continued: “There was only one system that was any real contender but we knew from the brand name alone that the cost would be out of our range – and this thought was more than backed up by the quote we received. KV2 Audio is such a great package of really superior audio at a great price point.”

The final studio system, decided following a further audio test in the space itself, comprised four bracket-mounted KV2 Audio EX12 compact, two-way, active cabinets – featuring the revolutionary 3” NVPD large format compression driver found in KV2 Audio’s flagship VHD range of products – supported by two EX2.2 double 12” compact active subwoofer modules.

AC Audio’s Pete Butler commented: “KV2 Audio wins every time when we demonstrate the sound – particularly against other systems directly. If everybody chose audio with their ears, they would all choose KV2! It’s such a great sound and so simple to use.”

Andy Simmons, KV2 Audio’s operations director, explains the difference KV2 Audio offers: “Until they’ve heard the difference most people don’t realise what a true ‘system’ has to offer. We don’t just manufacture loudspeaker cabinets at KV2 and use someone else’s amplifier and another’s processing. We manufacture complete systems - signal processing, specific amplifiers designed to drive specific loudspeakers, the drivers themselves and the cabinets etc. It makes a real difference when you have a perfectly matched system like that; it’s all designed to complement each other and you can hear the difference. Plus, through the technologies that we employ in each area we produce systems that are more efficient and thus physically smaller than most of our competition – and so we are able to keep costs down too – perfect for small venues like Theatre by the Lake.”
