Blackout Rigs Ford Beauty Parade in Paris

Blackout was behind the spectacular showcase for Ford’s Car of the Year presentation in Paris in February, in the run-up to the Geneva Motor Show.

Working for Mansfields, Blackout provided the drapes and rigging, including 400 metres of truss to support the lighting, sound and track plus audio visual and perimeter banners. They transformed the Dock Eiffel, a nineteenth century former warehouse at Paris’s Port de la Chapelle, to display Ford’s latest models – and some yet to be launched – at their very best.

The one-day event was for the benefit of 45 journalists from 18 countries who made up the European Car of the Year jury in Geneva. Apart from models still under wraps (and strictly for the jury’s eyes only), the cars on show included the new Ford Kuga SUV and Focus ranges and a sneak preview of the new Fiesta.

Blackout MD, Steve Tuck, said this had been a substantial job: “It took a lot of kit and a good deal of ingenuity to transform such a huge area but our team rose to the challenge. And it was great to work with Mansfields’ designers, who knew exactly what they wanted from us.”

Mansfields’ marketing manager Mike Hayward said: “We had a vast and initially unpromising space to work on but Blackout and our design team produced superb results. They created spectacular lighting effects to show off the cars as well as an elegant relaxation area for the audience.”
