GLP impressions at the 17th Echo Awards Ceremony

On the 15th February 2008, top stars from the German and international pop scene gathered in Berlin’s ICC for the presentation of the 17th annual ‘Echo’ music prizes. The three-hour event was presented this year by Nazan Eckes and Oliver Geissen. Jerry Appelt was responsible for the lightling design of the show, at which stars of the calibre of Herbert Grönemeyer and James Blunt were honoured.
The technical implementation of the lighting design was handled by Procon, based in Hamburg, who supplied a total of 118 impression washlights for the event. Some of the LED washlights from GLP were positioned on the front truss and aimed either at the public or the left and right sides of the stage. A further 96 luminaires on two 6-metre rotating periaktoi formed an 8 x 6 metre matrix capable of displaying video content from the OB truck. The movement of the lamps in the matrix was controlled from the lighting desk.
Thanks to the impression’s use of LED technology, both very fast and very slow colour changes could be implemented without difficulty, a fact that means the impression washlight will prove popular for such applications.
GLP products are available exclusively in the UK from Lighting Effects Distribution.
