Success for Chainmaster at Prolight+Sound

Frank Hartung of ChainMaster (Eilenburg) is highly satisfied with his company’s presentation at the recent Prolight+Sound trade fair. “What we value most about the Frankfurt event are the relaxed atmosphere and the professionalism of the visitors,” he says. “Our conversations at the Prolight+Sound were characterized by objectivity and the visitors’ increasing appreciation of quality.”

This year, ChainMaster was celebrating its 15th year as an exhibitor at the Prolight+Sound as well as the tenth anniversary of the launch of its VarioLift chain-hoist series, which has enjoyed worldwide success. Among the products on view at this year’s fair, ChainMaster noted particularly lively interest in the improved XYZ Series controllers and the BGV-C1 pro touch-panel control system with its expanded function set.

The XYZ Stage Controller governs movement along all three axes. It is equipped with a 12” touch screen and offers (depending upon the version) up to two separate control levers. The integrated keyboard combined with a mouse makes it possible to control and program the system swiftly and effortlessly. The parallel operation within a network of multiple XYZ Stage Controllers is possible. The controller comes as standard in a 19” case and is available upon request in slide-in and case-top versions as well as, optionally, in the form of a table-mounted console.

The BGV-C1 pro control system is an operation unit for manual controllers with group shutdown, the user interface of which features a 5.7” touch panel. With it, up to six 4/8-channel manual controllers can be linked. The touch panel is equipped with a Start button and an Emergency Off button; the unit is started using a key switch and makes programmable target runs possible. The routing comprehends monitoring of the direction of rotation. The load measurement system is equipped with a shutdown function. Both the correct and the actual positions of the connected hoists are displayed along with all error and operating conditions. With the BGV-C1 up to 48 drives can be controlled simultaneously.

ChainMaster of Eilenburg has been producing chain hoists and controllers for theatrical and show stages since 1990, references including the Pentagon Museum, the Kremlin and the international tours of acts like Metallica, Paul McCartney and U2. The Saxony-based firm is now one of the leading suppliers of chain hoists and chain-hoist controllers in the world. Among ChainMaster’s greatest successes has been the development of the VarioLift. As the new products multiply, the company, too, is expanding to meet increasing demand. Currently it employs some 20 workers in its own hi-tech production facility in Eilenburg. As well as developing a powerful distribution network inside Germany, ChainMaster has been particularly successful in the export market, exports currently accounting for around 60 per cent of the company’s turnover.
